1. Enable OBS's WebSocket server

In OBS, go to Tools → WebSocket Server Settings. Tick Enable WebSocket server. Click Show Connect Info and copy the Server Password — you'll need it in a moment. The default port is 4455, leave it as-is unless you've changed it.

2. Add the Stream Overlay link as a Browser Source

Copy the link from the box above. In OBS: right-click Sources → Add → Browser Source, paste it in, name it "Stream Overlay". Don't worry about an exact width/height — just drag its corners to cover your whole canvas (it's fully transparent, so it won't cover anything). Leave "Shutdown source when not visible" unticked.

3. Connect it to OBS

Right-click the new source → Interact. A small "⚙ Setup" button sits top-left — click it, enter your Twitch channel, OBS WebSocket password, and port, then click Connect. Once it says "Connected to OBS", the panel hides itself automatically.

4. Add scene commands

In the "OBS scene commands" box above, enter a chat command (e.g. !brb) and the exact OBS scene name (must match capitalization exactly), then click Add scene command.

5. Test it

Type your command (e.g. !brb) in your own Twitch chat — your scene should switch within a couple of seconds. Trigger a test alert or a !addmedia command to confirm popups show too.

Still showing "Not connected"?

This is almost always one of these:

• The source hasn't been refreshed since it was last updated — right-click it in OBS → Refresh. Updates to this page don't reach a source that's already running until you refresh it.
• You have two copies running at once (e.g. an old browser tab still open alongside the OBS source) — close any extras so only the one OBS source is connecting.
• OBS's WebSocket server got disabled again, or the password changed — recheck Tools → WebSocket Server Settings and reconnect via the "⚙ Setup" button.
• The status badge can take up to 15–20 seconds to catch up after a disconnect or reconnect — give it a moment before assuming it's stuck.
